Parks and Gardens at Château Pape Clément
At Château Pape Clement, the theme of the park is: "The South of France, the Mediterranean and Exoticism".
It is expressed by to the presence of trees such as palm trees, olive trees, eucalyptuses and magnolias, the proximity of the sea (we are 50 kilometres away from the Atlantic coast) and warm colours: red, orange and pink.

The park of Château Pape Clément, where quietness and well-being are paramount
Beginning in May, centenary orange and lemon trees are displayed on the terrace of the Orangery room. They exhale Mediterranean scents that remind of the park’s theme.

A simple walk in this centenary park will make you discover green lawns worthy of a golf course and refined flowering in perfect harmony with a great historical heritage.
Green dominates this colour palette and gives visitors an intense feeling of tranquillity and well-being.

Red, the symbol of welcome and triumph, is present in the flowerbeds near the Château’s entrance.
Finally, the blue of the sky mixed with the white of the Château offers visitors elegance, joy and relaxation.
All famous wine aromas (spices, underbrush, red and black fruits) can be found in the scent of flowers, plants and trees of the park. A true practical exercise for visitors of Château Pape Clément who enjoy recognising aromas of curry, vanilla, orange, lemon...

Chateau Pape Clement’s park, a remarkable layout
The balance of the park is achieved thanks to trees, rocks, flowerbeds and lawns.
The central piece is a cedar of Lebanon "Cedrus Libani". Located at the centre of the park, it is its highlight.
Of all species of cedars, is the oldest cultivated kind. It is also one of the tallest, sometimes reaching 40 metres high.
The cedar of Lebanon has the secret of eternity, it can live up to 3000 years. Our cedar is 221 years old.
The story goes that it was planted in 1790 by Republicans in the aftermath of the French Revolution, when they had taken possession of all church properties which Château Pape Clément was part of.
As it is exceptionally large, it is supported in places by steel pillars and inspires deep respect, reminding us of the permanence of trees beyond human generations.
Other trees, lime trees (100 years), oaks (300 years), plane trees (100 years), prunuses (100 years), ashes (200 years) and elm trees (100 years) give balance, harmony and strength to the park.
